Mary Combi
Mary began her classical ballet training with Lee Ann King at Sylvia Studio in Ann Arbor. She has been dancing since the age of seven and has been teaching dancers of all ages for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Ann Arbor Civic Ballet for eight years and then served on its board as the communications chair and president. She has attended the International Cecchetti Summer School of Dance as both a student and teacher. She is currently a teaching member of the Cecchetti Council of America.
Mary was previously a dance major at both Eastern Michigan University and Western Michigan Univeristy with a ballet concentration. While in college, she was able to study with a repetiteur of the Balanchine Trust while staging Stars and Stripes, and she took master classes with members from The Doug Elkins Company, Hubbard Street Dance Company, The Pilobolus Dance Theater, and many others. She has also traveled to take class with Hartford Ballet Company, Cleveland Ballet Company and Lake Erie Ballet.
Mary has been teaching at L & L Dance Studio for over 15 years. Her students find a love for ballet that they had not had thought was possible and learn many other styles from her as well. Dancers have won many awards under her choreography at competitions. Mary also has her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from The University of Michigan – Flint.
